Topic: Trust in Marriage

Any marriage that is not built on trust cannot withstand the test of time. Simply exchanging vows at the altar is insufficient; it is crucial to abide by the laws of marriage and continually renew your commitment in your heart. Many marriages lack trust, instead focusing on what each partner can offer. However, when trust is the foundation, divine peace and unity prevail. In its absence, infidelity and betrayal can thrive, as evidenced by the prevalence of adultery in many marriages today. This is often due to prioritizing fleshly desires over spiritual values.

It is essential for married couples to reassess and address the issues in their relationships. This is not a time for games or manipulation but for genuine reconciliation. When trust is lost, the divine spirit of unity departs, leaving the marriage spiritually deactivated.

Today, numerous marriages are falling short of unity due to a lack of trust and understanding. This is why many marriages are disintegrating, as couples are unwilling to work towards trust and unity. Marriage encompasses more than material wealth and procreation; it is a sacred institution. Unfortunately, many couples no longer cherish marriage, viewing it as an inevitable part of life.

The current state of many marriages is alarming, with love and honor absent. As Romans 12:10 instructs, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."

Some couples neglect their families, struggling to spend quality time with their children or even engage in meaningful conversations with each other. They persist in a state of courtship, failing to recognize the gravity of marriage. Let us remember that marriage is a divine gift, instituted by God through Adam and Eve. Therefore, it is crucial to uphold the sanctity of marriage.

Establishing trust and unity in your home is vital. If you fail to set a positive example for your children, they will lack a strong foundation for their future marriages. Now is the time to rectify any issues in your marriage, ensuring that your children can build upon a healthy legacy.

Recall the oath you took when you got married, promising to be faithful to each other. What happened to that commitment? It is essential to acknowledge the breakdown in your relationship and seek guidance from God. As Psalm 32:8 states, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."

Do not hesitate to seek God's counsel. Whenever you need guidance, humbly pray for the strength to remain faithful in your marriage. As Matthew 11:28 assures, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

At this time, God is willing to grant you rest in your marriage. Amen.
